Getting uncomfortable!

Hello Lovelies,

I hope you are enjoying the last few days of weather we have had if you are here in the UK, it seems summer is starting to bloom!

This week also marks for me the completion of two courses I have been on this year, one being the level one foundation course to yoga with the British Wheel of Yoga. The other being an intensive self love coaching course with the lovely Gina Swire.

I am very happy to share that I have successfully completed them and I am well prepared to continue onto my yoga teacher training next year! and I am now working with clients as a Self Love mentor, and beginning to organise my very first retreats ekkkk (Total Goals!). It feels a little like a pinch me moment, finding I can start to actually tick things off my vision board, in fact be LIVING it, it feels so empowering and I get to celebrate now!

I wanted to share with you all some things about my journey to completion, and getting to this point as it hasn't come without its stumbling blocks. I have hit various stage gates;

  • Wanting to quit

  • Thinking its not for me

  • Not being patient with the results

  • Wanting instant life changing results

  • Nearly not signing up because of the money investment

  • Being tired due to also having a management job

  • Being scared to actually show up in the world

  • Worried about what other people might think

The self development that I have gone through (that was not listed within the course modules) has been absolutely phenomenal. The self awareness, self discipline, self soothing, self love and self mastery required to level up has taken me to new places. And this goes without says ... it has been priceless.

Learning about yoga philosophy has been an incredibly enlightening experience for me spiritually too, but that requires its own blog!

Anyhow - I really want to share the uncomfortable truths because I think it is important to know if you are embarking on making some big shifts in your life too. It likely won't be all flowers and rainbows, and it be probably be hard at times, change is. However speaking from my experience it has been totally worth it. Totally.

And here is where it all came together for me for this blog today ...... after having 2 cold showers in the last 2 days (apparently its my new thing) - a penny dropped for me. It is about learning how to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. How to control the mind and body through mindset and breathing so you can get out of your own way, so you can recognise fear, anxiety and other emotion as they rise and you can decide if they are actually serving you right now. Or is it your body trying to protect you from a suspected danger, that is actually keeping you nice and cosy in your comfort zone. You get to choose.

I have wrote about this before, but I suppose the quote 'Nothing grows in your comfort zone' is a cliché for a reason.

I invite you to do one thing after reading this blog, that makes you feel uncomfortable this week. Turn up at that gym class you fancy but are worried you won't be good enough. Go for that coffee by yourself, and sit watching the world go by. Get a cold shower, chill dip in the sea - whatever it is for you. And reflect on it afterwards, how did it make you feel.
